Cambridge is fortunate to host a year-round market open seven days a week, offering a wide variety of products to cater to all tastes. Conveniently located in the heart of the city, right in front of The Guildhall, Cambridge Market is truly a shopping destination in its own right. Here, you can discover an array of delightful and unique Christmas gifts.
General Market
Market traders have been a staple in the city centre since the Middle Ages. Now situated on Market Hill, behind Great St Mary’s Church and just a stone's throw from Kings Parade and the colleges, the market boasts 99 pitches and operates daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
You’ll find everything from traditional butchers, bakers, and florists to cheesemongers, greengrocers, sweet stalls, and fishmongers. There’s also a selection of vinyl records, vintage clothing, freshly ground coffee, teas, souvenirs, gifts, flowers, jewellery, books, recycled goods, and a variety of street food representing different cultures. Plus, bike stalls are available to service and repair your cycles while you shop!
All Saints Garden Art & Craft Market
Just a short stroll from the main market through Rose Crescent and along Trinity Street, the All Saints Garden Art & Craft Market takes place every Saturday, as well as on select weekdays during peak seasons, including the week leading up to Christmas. This is a fantastic opportunity to “meet the maker” and commission special gifts for your loved ones!
Set in a picturesque outdoor space opposite Trinity College, the market features a unique and ever-changing selection of bespoke products crafted by skilled artisans. You’ll find everything from woodwork and original art—ranging from paintings to drawings—to ceramics, hand-blown glass, unique jewellery, one-of-a-kind hand-turned pens, specially printed notebooks, and zero-waste cosmetics, toiletries, and candles.
Sundays at the Market: A Local Vibe
If your Saturday visit to All Saints wasn't enough, Sundays at the Market Square offer a different atmosphere, focusing on local arts, crafts, and produce.
Every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can explore an even broader range of unique items, including locally grown produce, locally sourced meats, fresh fish, baked goods, and crafts from local artisans. Many of the daily traders are still present, making it an excellent day to visit!
